Vital Statistics

• Born: Yes, at an earlier age than Wendell. She wanted a head start.
• Place: Rumored to be in the West Texas town of El Paso. Difficult to verify due to the age of the records. (She told Wendell to say that. Really!)
• Parents: Yep, She also had two parents.
• Marital Status: Well, if Wendell has been married to Zelma for 32 years, it should make sense that she is also married to him!
• Education: BA in Sociology/Psychology from University of Texas - El Paso. Teacher Certification from UTEP. Masters degree in Educational Diagnostics from UTEP. Currently ABD in PhD program at Texas A&M University in Special Education and Educational Administration. This girl must be addicted to school!
• Current Location: Living in College Station, Texas. Someone has to keep Wendell from getting lost!
• Occupation: Special Education Coordinator for Burleson/Milam Special Services Coop, Caldwell, TX.

Interests and Hobbies

Faith · Zelma is also a born again Christian who is very committed to her faith.

Politics · Zelma's interest in politics and current events is probably more keen than Wendell's. Also politically very conservative, she loves to read Drudge Report and Worldnetdaily. She also could be called a news junkie, watching Fox News any chance she gets, which makes for some interesting discussions with Wendell when he isn't as interested in news.

Special Education · No surprise here considering her educational history and career! Zelma has always had an intense desire to provide kids second chances. She has a heart for kids that are struggling and looks for unique ways of helping them to learn. Anytime she and our daughters get together, the topic of their conversations are often special ed. Since both daughters are also special ed. teachers, the rest of the family gets to listen to them talk "shop".

Other Interests · Zelma has a wide range of interests. She is an avid reader when she actually has time to do it. She knits and crochets, again as time permits. She also loves to hang out at the beach with Wendell, and anytime they can, they head down to Port Aransas for a few days.

Zelma has an interest in genealogy. She has worked hard at researching both hers and Wendell's family trees. You should see the boxes of family memorabilia and records in their garage! Some interesting facts are that some of her ancestors were on the privy council of King Henry VIII and that Wendell is related to Daniel Boone through Israel Boone, Daniel's brother. She is also related to Longfellow and P. T. Barnum (Yes of the circus fame) while Wendell's ancestry goes back to Rob Roy MacGregor!
